Reset Button

from Face To Face by Twelfth Day

about

Reset Button describes the maddening dance between two people attracted to each other, but unable to progress with their relationship. Nothing seems to change, and so one casts the other off to an imaginary desert island. But they just keep pushing the reset button and swimming right back to each other. We wanted the accompaniment to reflect the madness, so wrote meandering chords around a crooked waltz. The harp part is an ironic, tongue-in-cheek flowery expression of popular classical harp techniques. Spot the quote from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake in the cadenza. Yep, there’s a cadenza. We wanted to reflect the ironic theme in the ironic musical content. We always want to push the expectations of our instruments and this was a glorious opportunity to do so.
