The album opens with a song inspired by the recent rise of awareness of climate change in the mainstream media. The lyrics are from the point of view of Mother Nature. She is expressing her relief that we’ve finally realised serious action needs to be taken to save the planet. ‘Just in time you wake’. She talks about the human ego becoming out of control, making our brains think that we are in charge of forces greater than us. Its rising harmonies and punchy rhythm is inspired by our love of Motown music, and uses the harp and fiddle in unconventional ways. The addition of bass and drums on this album is showcased in this track. The vocals are strong and defiant. We wanted to push the boundaries of what is expected from female folk vocalists.
