Face to Face

from Face To Face by Twelfth Day

/

about

This instrumental was written after the Scottish independence referendum in 2014. Being regularly engaged with this debate, which often got very fiery down the pub, was exciting. But we were left with the feeling that people on different sides of the argument were often after the same thing - they just had different opinions on how to achieve it. The title comes from the two-faced Roman god Janus. It is generally about human contradiction, opposition, debate and communication. This track has been around for a while and has been a joy adding drums and bass to it. It’s made it one of the most varied and explorative tracks on the album.
